To wash leather made from deer skin, use a mild soap and water. Deerskin is very absorbent, so avoid rubbing stains in an attempt to get them out. You will only succeed in working the stain in further. Instead, blot stains carefully. For greasy stains, sprinkle baby powder on the stain and allow it to soak up the grease overnight. Then, use a soft brush to brush away the soiled powder.

Avoid using water-repellant conditioners or treatments on the leather because it will affect the breathability of the skin. Read the labels carefully to make sure that any conditioner you use is rated for this leather. Test the conditioner on a small, inconspicuous part of the leather to ensure that it will not damage or stain the leathe
